Caution: The Monsters of Indiana Are Polite but Dangerous. It honestly doesn't come across as pandering, and instead part of an actually well-developed, intriguing character instead of just being his entire character ( stares at Alex). The Tales of the Trials of Apollo: The Dark Prophecy. The is more obvious and important here, but quite frankly written MUCH better than Hammer of Thor. The second book, The Dark Prophecy, is amazing!! Rick has found his pace, both in writing and dialogue. It really is awesome seeing Camp Half-Blood again, and I dare say that Apollo spent more time there than Percy did before leaving on his quest. The beginning of the book is good, the middle is slightly lacking,and the end is best. The only issue should be is if you had to put down Percy Jackson's Greek Gods because of the myth of Hyacinth. It really doesn't matter what "side" of the Rick is pandering/Rick is ok issue with minorities you are on, as the thing is very minor, not more than he is in a book of myths. Trials of Apollo book 1 (The Hidden Oracle) is good. Well, I'm going to give two different reviews. It’s much like all the others: good, fun, enjoyable, but nothing that sticks with you for long.Thinks for a second. Apollo is much less unlikable in this one (he has his moments, but they’re getting fewer) and Riordan seamlessly weaves in ancient myths and stories. ![]() They sassy haiku are back (my favorite: Yeah we got the skills/Fake hexes and shooting feet/Teach you ’bout pancakes), which is always fun. ![]() It’s not a bad book Riordan knows how to pace an action-packed novel, and there’s enough pop culture references to nod and wink at the reader without it being overbearing. This one definitely has the feeling of a middle book (maybe because it is…). Not bad, all things considered, and yet Apollo manages to make things worse. Tagging along with Leo and Calypso, they head to Indianapolis, where they find a huge mess involving yet another evil Roman Emperor to stop, battle ostriches, and a kidnapped oracle.
